PIN
Evidence
Maintaining high standards for evidence of direct protein interactions helps to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the dataset. Our dedicated team of researchers manually curates primary reference articles to extensively annotate any evidence used to support all interactions within the PIN module. The current PIN dataset contains >400 pieces of evidence, cultivated using techniques such as a yeast two-hybrid system, immunoprecipitation, electrophoretic mobility shift assay, FRET, and X-ray crystallography. Each piece of evidence is documented with the type of tissue/cell used (i.e., rat brain, HeLa cells, etc.).
In the future, our researchers plan to group this evidence into 8-10 broad categories, allowing users to filter the PIN dataset by the type of experiment used to produce the resulting data.
